Watch the spectacular Southern Right Whales at play from one of the best vantage points in Australia. The season runs from June to September with up to 100 whales to be viewed at any one time.

Cactus Beach
One of Australia’s most well known surf destinations, Cactus is also a top spot for anglers.


Davenport Creek
Sheltered by sandhills, with mangroves and cockle beds,
Davenport Creek is especially recommended for picnics and safe fishing. Beyond these sandhills, great surfing, bodyboarding and water skiing is on offer (4WD access only).


Baird Bay / Point Labatt
Where else can you swim with sea lions, dive with dolphins and commune with nature? For the less adventurous, Point Labatt offers a fine view of the sea lions at play.

Needle Eye Lookout Located in Venus Bay, the Lookout offers spectacular views of natural rock formations, rugged cliffs and breathtaking coastline as far as the eye can see.

Coffin Bay Oyster Walk
Take a leisurely stroll along this meandering and picturesque seaside trail located in one of South Australia’s prettiest fishing villages.


Fitzgerald Bay/Point Lowly
A short drive north of Whyalla you will find a real ‘wonder’, crystal clear waters, pristine beaches, yellowtail kingfish pens - a great spot to stop and enjoy.


The majestic cuttlefish
The best kept eco-dive secret is found in Whyalla. Between May and August each year, hundreds of thousands of giant, colourful cuttlefish gather to spawn in and around the rocky shores of Black Point and Point Lowly.

Salt lakes in the Gawler Ranges
A spectacular wilderness area of unspoiled beauty. Admire the contrasting colourful volcanic rock against the pure white of the salt lakes. The ranges are renowned for the display of wildflowers in the spring and the large variety of fauna, including 140 recorded species of birds.
